Audrey Chen, cello

Praised for her “lyricism of dramatic intensity” (San Francisco Classical Voice) and “longevity of phrasing” (Boston Musical Intelligencer), Washington state native Audrey Chen is the cellist of the Terra String Quartet. As a soloist, she has concertized with the Seattle Symphony and the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra. As a chamber musician, she performs frequently with the Jupiter Chamber Players and the Boston Chamber Music Society. Audrey has also performed at festivals including Yellowbarn, Olympic Music Festival, Music@Menlo, Ravinia Steans Music Institute, Four Seasons Chamber Music, the Perlman Music Program, and the Tanglewood Music Center. Audrey received her education from Harvard University, the New England Conservatory, and the CUNY Graduate Center, where her teachers included Laurence Lesser, Lluis Claret, and Marcy Rosen. On account of her doctoral studies and her research on the classical music industry, Audrey was named a 2022 recipient of the prestigious Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans. Outside of music, Audrey enjoys watching films and doing jigsaw puzzles.
